What to know before going to a Los Angeles dispensary

Chances are, if you’re interested in checking out a dispensary in the Candyland of Cannabis, you’re like most people who are curious and excited about all the new offerings that deregulations has allowed.  I don’t know how many times I’ve had friends who have wanted to try but don’t even know where to begin with a smoking pipe let alone, know how to gently take a drag from a joint. Opportunities to enjoy the healing powers of cannabis are expanding and a great dispensary will have a variety of options for you.  From traditional flowers to dabs (compressed oil), vape pens to gummy bears, you can now safely find ways to inhale, eat, drink or rub on cannabis.

When you come to a dispensary:

1) bring government issue ID

2) bring cash (some take credit card, others have ATM machines inside, most tend not to use a federally-regulated bank for obvious reasons)

3) ask questions and be honest about your own answers (you don’t want a recommendation for a high dosage option when you’re really just starting out)

4) know your limits: Under AUMA, adults 21 years of age or older with a valid, government-issued ID are able to purchase up to 28.5 grams (g) of marijuana flower and up to 8 grams (g) of marijuana concentrate (for reference, an “eighth” or “eighth of an ounce”, typically in the $50-60 range is 3.5 grams)
